To kill a mockingbird
To kill a mockingbird: Task 2
In the novel ``To kill a mockingbird´´ I interpreted that the mockingbird represents all innocent that has been touched by evil. This is because the mockingbird gets killed by poachers and other people, despite doing nothing wrong but singing its magnificent song for us.
The theme of the mockingbird throughout the book is as I see it racism and this is something you can see clearly through the novel. Tom Robinson is one of the mockingbirds in this novel, he was an innocent hardworking African American that got unfairly judged in court for raping and beating a white woman called Mayella, just because of his skin colour. The evident of the trail faced someone else but the jury Couldn’t care less because this someone else was a white man, and they didn´t want to listen to straight on facts. This later led to Tom Robinson being shot and killed after he supposedly tried to escape.
In the novel, there are multiply characters that can be compared to a mockingbird, and I think the mockingbird as said earlier in the text represents or symbolizes everyone pure and innocent touched or hurt by evil. Such as Jem, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley.
Boo Radley may have been the biggest mockingbird in the novel, this is because despite being mistreated by his father all his life and everyone else thinking there is something wrong with him and not his father he still is pure of hart and helps Scout and Jem, later in the novel he ends up killing a man that was out to hurt Scout and Jem badly, and maybe even with the intensions to kill, this was in fact the same man that got Tom Radley killed by lying in court. Luckily the police decide to pretend like nothing ever happen because the person that got killed had it coming and it would just be unnecessary to take it further, it would be just like killing a mockingbird.
