The summary of the movie

One day Juliet’s father invites all his friends at a big party, but the Montague’s are not invited. Romeo, a Montague, wants to go at the party because his love, Rosaline is invited. With the help from his friend Mercutio, Romeo gets an invitation. When he comes, he falls in love with Juliet at the first sight, without knowing her background.

 

Later, the same evening, Juliet is in the garden and tells the stars about Romeo. Romeo hears what she says, because he has climbed into the garden. He is standing in front of her, and they decide to get married in secret. Romeo and Juliet marry the next day.

 

Just some few hours later Romeo and Juliet’s wedding, Romeo’s friend Mercutio is getting killed by Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt. Romeo gets revenge, and he kills Tybalt. Because of what Romeo do, he had to stay outside his homeland because of the exile.

 

Now it all gets complicated. Juliet’s father wants her to marry Count Paris, and after a while she says yes, but she doesn’t want that.

 

In despair Juliet seeks the priest: He gives her a potion which will make her sleep, and then will wake her up one day (24houres) later. The priest writes a letter to Romeo and tells him about the plan Juliet and he have.

 

Romeo never reads the letter, and his friend comes and tells him about Juliet and her death (she isn’t dead in reality). He drives back to Verona so he can see Juliet. First, he drives to a man who has a potion which will kill him. He comes to the church. He cries a lot, and then he kills himself. Just a moment later, Juliet wakes up and finds her lover dead by her side. She takes a gun and kills herself.

Description of the lead characters

 

Romeo

Romeo is the only son of the rich Montague family. Romeo’s hair is brown and short. He is thin and handsome. He is a teenager and he isn’t violent. He is a great guy. He’s caring with the people around him, and he doesn’t like to shoot his family’s enemy, the Capulets.

 

He is in love with a girl named Rosaline, but one day he falls in love with Juliet, a Capulet. She is a beautiful girl. It’s really love at first sight. He is romantic and naïve, because he decides to marry Juliet when the families are enemies.

 

Juliet

Juliet is the only daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet. She lived in a big and famous house. The family is very rich. Juliet has a nurse, and she is closer to the nurse, then her parents. She can talk to her nurse, as a friend. The Capulet’s has an enemy, and it’s the Montague’s.

 

Juliet’s hair is brown and long and she goes with white clothes. She is beautiful. She is 14years old. Her mother has found the perfect boy to her, Count Paris. Juliet doesn’t like Paris, but one day she falls in love with Romeo, a Montague. It was loves with first sight. She is romantic and naïve, because he decides to marry Juliet when the families are enemies.

 

The setting

The story takes place in Verona in Italy, a city. In Verona, it is a lot of big buildings, shops, cars and freeways. In the city it’s criminals and rich people. Rich people with very big houses, nice cars and expensive clothes. Two families, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s are enemies. They are in gangs, Montague’s and Capulet’s. Many of them have a gun in the jacket all the time.

 

Time

In the movie we are in the present, it’s a modern movie from 1990’s. In the movie they are at a party, they have cars, guns, helicopter and drugs, but in the original play we are in Italy many centuries ago. They are at a ball, they have horses and swords. They’re talking old-fashioned in the present and it was difficult to understand everything.

 

The turning point

I think the turning point is it when we see that Romeo doesn’t read the letter from the priest in Verona. When he gets told that Juliet is dead, he gets desperate. I think it was the turning point because I got a bad feeling inside me. When I saw that, I said No, no, no. I think, now it’s all over. No way back.

 

If Romeo had read the letter, everything would have been different. I think the end had been very boring.

 

The theme of the movie

The movie is really about love. It’s love between Romeo and Juliet. Even if their families are enemies, they love each other. They kiss and want to be together all the time.

 

It’s love between Juliet and her nurse. Juliet goes to her nurse if she has a bad day. It’s more love between Juliet and her nurse, than Juliet and her parents. When Juliet had decided to marry Romeo, the nurse is the first person she tells.

 

It’s also love between Romeo and his friend Mercutio. Romeo loves his friend so much, so he kills Tybalt because Tybalt kills Mercutio. The movie shows very much love, and what we do for ours friends and families.

 

The movie is also about hate. It’s hate between The Capulet’s and the Montague’s. They shoot each other. The movie starts with a fight between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s. The Montague’s and the Capulet’s hate each other so much, so they kill. Tybalt kills Mercutio, so Romeo gets revenge and kills Tybalt.

 

It never helps to be friends with wars. We must think about what we can do that we should not hate each other. I think the movie is trying to tell us that if we are enemies, it’s important to be friend, and don’t wait until something terrible happens.

 

My opinion

I like this movie. The movie was very romantic, but that was very much drama in it. I like drama. When Romeo went over the letter from Verona, I got a bad feeling inside me. It was exciting to see this. The movie tells us that it helps not to shoot each other to keep the peace. Love everyone!

 

My impression of the lead characters is good. They are sweet and they love each other even if their families are enemies. Romeo and Juliet are two young people who can love and die because they have broken hearts.

 

My favorite scene in the movie must be when Romeo opens the door to the church and enters and sees Juliet dead in the bed. It was so nice to see all the lights. It reminds me of last night completions for confirmation camp. It was so incredibly nice. I love this scene. I think of my friends and how much I love them when I watched this scene.

 

Yes, I like the ending. They are in the church, and the death lived there. It was so incredibly nice. Romeo and Juliet, dead in a bed in church with many lights. A very nice ending. It was so romantic and sad at the same time. A beautiful ending!
