"The Maltese falcon" by Dashiell Hammett
”The Maltese falcon” is the book that I have read. It was written by by Dashiell Hammett and later John Huston turned it into a screenplay with Humphrey Bogart and Mary Astor as the two most important characters.
At the first glance it looks like a normal and uninteresting detective’s novel, with all the normal characteristics that fit into that genre, but after you have read a bit of the book you get a quite different perspective. In the beginning the main character Sam spade is what most people would consider as shining example of the sombre and gallant hero which saves the girl. This view of the main character is quite torn down after a few pages, and is replaced by a picture of a sort of anti hero. The special thing about the book is that it always keeps you on your toes. It makes you wary of their every move and word a character makes. You keep on guessing who is good and who is bad, and at times you even wonder if there is good and bad in the story, or if it’s just bad and worse.
It is a book filled with plot twists and when you turn from one page to the next, you never know what might happen.
