Once up a time in a little village a boy called Askeladden wanted to get the kings daughter, Askeladden`s two brothers Per and Pål haved already tried to get the kings daughter but they haved failed. Askeladden and his brothers comed from a very poor family so the only thing he got with him to the journey was a knife and some bread. Then he said goodbye to his mom and dad and his two brothers, then he started to walk.

After a while he comed to a house, he knocked on the door an a old lady opned the door. The old lady asked Askeladden what she could help him with, Askeladden asked the way to the king but only if you give me something to eat I will show the way, but stay over here to night, tomorrow I will wake you up. Next morning the old lady waked up Askeladden a horse stod ready to go. The old lady said this is a gift from me because you gave me something to eat when I was hungry. Just clap the horse on the head and it will go to my sister. When you have comed to my sister just clap it on the ear and it will return to me.

Then Askeladden said good bye to the old lady and clapped the horse on the head. After a while the horse stopped outside a old house in the middle of the forest. He clapped the horse on the ear and the horse returned to the old ladys house. Then he knocked on the door an a very old lady opned the door she asked what she could help Askeladden with, Askeladden asked the way to the king. The old lady said give me a knife and help me to cut some bread and I will show you the way, but stay over here to night and I will wake you up tomorrow.

The next morning the old lady waked up Askeladden, a horse stod ready to go. Just clap the horse on the head and it will go to my sister, when you have comed to my sister just clap the horse on the ear and it will return to me. The old lady said you helped me when I needed help, here take this ring you will need it. Then Askeladden said goodbye to the old lady. After a while he comed to a very very old house. He clapped the horse on the ear and knocked on the door. Then a old lady opned the door, and asked what she can help Askeladden with, Askeladden asked the way to the king. I can show you the way to the king if you can give me a ring, but stay over here to night and I will wake you up tomorrow.
