George W. Bush
George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is the 43rd and current President of the United States and a former governor of Texas. He is currently in his second term as president, which runs until January 20, 2009. As a member of the Repuplican Party, Bush was elected to be the 46th governor of Texas, and was re-elected in 1998.
Bush joined the Air National Guard in 1968 and was sent to training in Georgia. In 1976 Bush was arrested by the police for driving under the influense of alcohol. Bush has stated that he hasn't used any illegal drugs since 1974. In 1998, while being unwittingly tape recorded by a now former friend, Bush explained his refusal to answer questions about whether he had used marijuana at some time in his past.
“I wouldn’t answer the marijuana questions,” Bush said. “You know why? Because I don’t want some little kid doing what I tried.” When reminded that he had publicly denied using cocaine, Bush replied, "I haven't denied anything.
In 1993, Bush and his brother Jeb Bush both decided to run for gouvenor in Texas and Florida. Although his brother was unsuccessful, Geoge Bush ended up defeating popularAnn Richards, to become Gouvernor of Texas. In 1998 Bush went to re-election with 69% of the vote.
Bush lowered the tax from 15%-10% early in his president-career. Today the U.S . has a big budget-shortfall and depd. Bush got very much criticism for the occupation of Iraq and Afganistan, especially the Iraq-war because the reason was mass destruction weapon that where never there, though Bush sad it was.
