Loch Ness is a large, deep lake in the Scotland highlands. It’s the second biggest lake in Scotland, its 37 kilometres long and 230 meters deep. But there is a mystery about it, there lives a big sea monster in the lake. Many says that she looks like a plesiosaur that has a long, thin neck with a body with breast flippers on, usually green with black humps on. But is that true? Is there really a sea monster in Loch ness?

What is the Loch ness monster?

The loch ness monster is a big creature that lives in a lake in Scotland. Some says it’s a myth and others say it’s a living dinosaur. Whenever its real or not it’s what Scotland is best known about, Besides bagpipes and kilts. People say that it looks like a plesiosaur that has a long thin neck and a big body with breast flippers on. Its usually green with big black humps on it. The Scottish people call the loch ness monster “Nessie”.  Nessie lives in a 230 meters deep lake and the lake is 37 kilometres long. Its many hotels and fun things you can do near the lake. The Loch ness monster is a really big thing among people from the whole world. 

History about the Loch Ness monster

It was in the 1933 the loch ness monster began to be popular. At this time a highway beside loch ness was finished. When you drive on the road you can see the lake from your car. But that year a couple was driving by, and they saw an enormous animal in the lake. They compere that it looked like a big dragon or a dinosaur. They said I to the Scottish newspaper and the news was out. A few months later, a hunter was looking for the sea creature. But he didn’t find the creature, he found the “footprints” that was around six meters long. 

In April 1934 a guy named Colonel Robert Kenneth Wilson took a picture of the Loch ness monster and sent it to the newspaper. The newspaper trusted him because he was a doctor. The picture came out to the world. After this came out many tourists came to Scotland just to see the loch ness monster. The picture is known as the surgeon photograph. But suddenly 60 years later Colonel revealed that the photograph was fake. The monster was actually a toy submarine with a head and neck made of plastic wood, made by Christian Spurling.  

Why Loch ness monster?

I choose the loch ness monster because it’s a really cool thing. Even thought its fake or not. I actually believe that there is a creature in the lake. The monster people saw could have been waves in the lake or even animals like birds or eels, because scientist says that eels live in the lake. It could also have been some floating objects, for an example like tree trunks. So, it seems like the Loch ness monster is in our imagination. But then in 2019 research have been taken DNA test of the lake and, the result was shocking. According to the result they say that there may be some monster living in the Loch ness lake. Also, the DNA result found large result of eel in the lake. So, the loch ness monster may be a myth? We will never know. But the researchers will keep looking. 

I think it’s fun to believe that there really is a big creature living in the lake. Now that there is Many hotels and Parks around the lake. They can’t say its fake. Many people also said they saw something in the lake. People can say it is a Myth, but I believe that it is real even though the history about it sounds ridiculous.
