Nevada (Also called the Silver State)

Nevada’s location is in North America on the West Coast. About 1,1 million people live there.
Nevada is about 286 300 km2.
Winters are extremely cold in the north and west, and the summers have normal temperatures.
The largest cities are Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks, Fallon and Carson City, which is the capital in Nevada.
Nevada experienced the fastest rate of population increase of any state, growing by more than 1200%. Most new residents have settled in Las Vegas and Reno. Over 88% of the population lives in urban areas. In 1990 Nevada was 84% white, 7% African American, and 3% Asian American.
The American explorer Jedediah S.Smith passed trough Nevada in 1827, and it was subsequently (påfølgende) explored in 1843 by John C.Fremont.
